Hiking
Exciting tours around the B&B
The Schmittenhöhe offers the perfect backdrop for a wonderful summer holiday in the Zell am See region, and the local mountain is also home to a great hiking area where young and old can really let off steam. Leisurely walks are perfectly complemented by challenging tours. Families with children appreciate the more relaxed walks and hiking trails, such as the Pinzgauer Spaziergang, the Höhenpromenade and the Sisi circular hiking trail on the Schmittenhöhe.
You can also hike to your heart’s content in the surrounding region. Head into the heart of the Hohe Tauern via Kaprun’s Kitzsteinhorn, best accompanied by a local hiking guide. The Pinzgau grass mountains on the Maiskogel family mountain are also well worth a hike. Never a bad idea: a short break and a hearty snack at one of the many serviced mountain huts.
Further hiking tips and daily highlights are available at the Schmittenhof reception.
Mountain biking
Cycling through nature
Where there is hiking, cyclists and mountain bikers are usually not far away. Hundreds of kilometres of excellently marked routes and trails lead over mountains and valleys, around clear blue lakes, and close to towering glaciers.
You’re sure to find the ideal tour around the B&B by Zillner. Relax and warm up in the valley or along Lake Zell, accompanied by a dip in the cool water at the end of the tour. Challenging alpine trails lead to the next hut. Experienced mountain bikers set their sights on the summits and use the mountain railway as a climbing aid. There is even something for long-distance cyclists here.
MTB pros dedicate themselves to the Kitzsteinhorn. Various trails of different levels of difficulty pose the ultimate challenge. Bends, root passages, jumps and ramps invite you to perform breathtaking tricks.
Swimming
In the cool water
Lake Zell, one of the most beautiful and cleanest lakes in the country, is the perfect place to cool off on hot days. The lake’s water is of drinking quality, and there are three public beach pools. Swimming, sunbathing or water sports – the cool water brings joy to young and old.
In combination with hiking and cycling tours, there is plenty of fun to be had at the lake. Cool off after a long tour on the mountain before heading back to the bed and breakfast – that’s a real treat.
